What is IDAR?

A profitable “Turn-Key” vehicle rental program designed for dealerships, repair/body shops and other related businesses that have specific vehicles set aside to be scheduled for customer rentals or loaners. IDAR is an acronym for Independant Dealers Auto Rental. Our company provides all the materials you need, including software, to operate your rental business and we work wth an "A" rated A.M. Best insurer to provide the option of liability only or liability plus physical damage coverage which is under a Business Auto Policy.

How can I make money with rentals?

1. Set your own pricing structure based on your location, rental rates, and your own specific rental fees.
2. Rent idle vehicles, add a light box truck, SUV, mini van, cargo van and/or pickup truck for additional profits
3. Adjust amount of fleet vehicles monthly according to demand

How else can I make money with a rental business?

If you are “upside down” in a vehicle, rent it for several months to get “right side up.”  Many rental customers need a vehicle so take the opportunity to sell them a vehicle. Remember: Rentals draw customer traffic to your business.  The IDAR Program works well in tandem with Ren’T'Own®/Lease’T'Own®. An enrollment discount is available to RTO/LTO® Dealers

What are my IDAR costs?

There are NO FRANCHISE FEES, only:

1. A $779.00 one time enrollment fee – includes: materials kit, rental agreements, software designed specifically for our program, training, ongoing support, and supplies (including shipping) for the entire time you are with us.
2. Replacement supplies available at NO COST
3. One monthly insurance premium per vehicle for 1st month’s coverage
4. A security deposit (held in reserve) equal to one monthly premium per vehicle
5. Start the Ren’T'Own®/Lease’T'Own® program within a year and receive $200.00 off your enrollment fee! If you are an existing RTO/LTO® dealer, take your $200.00 discount off the IDAR enrollment fee.
6. Fluorescent “Rent Me” mirror tags, vehicle inspection form, pre-numbered customer rental agreements, 18x48″ “Daily Rentals” Banner, Rental Guidebook/Operation Manual, fleet fax forms to add or delete vehicles, and other forms are included in the “IDAR Start-Up Kit”.

How and when are my monthly vehicle insurance
payments made to IDAR?

1. Through our convenient ACH (Automated Check Handling) or  Debit / Credit Card Authorization System
2. Your monthly payment is processed on the seventh (7th) day of each month.

What about software?

1. The IDAR Rental Software is included in your startup fee.
2. It manages your vehicles and customers, processes rental agreements, automatically calculates taxes, and more.
3. Software is not compatible with Vista or Windows 7.

How does my IDAR fleet work?

1. You can start with one vehicle.
2. Rental vehicles can be added or deleted from your fleet with a simple fax form notification to IDAR 24/7.
3. You can add a new vehicle and delete a previous vehicle on the same day at no additional cost (called a “swap”).
4. You manage the fleet size and vehicle mix.
5. There are a variety of vehicles that qualify including light to medium trucks (no towing), box trucks, SUV's, Minivans, Cargo Trucks (no hydraulic parts) 12 Passanger vehicles and standard Passenger vehicles.
6. Insurance rate is not determined by the vehicle but by the losses in your zip code area and your loss history.

Who can be an IDAR member?

1. Car dealers, existing vehicle rental businesses, repair shops, collision repair shops, body shops, transmission shops, small airports, and glass replacement stores can easily become an IDAR member.
2. IDAR is available in 50 states.

What about vehicle insurance and security?

1. Your rental customer must provide, at least, primary insurance to rent a vehicle.
2. IDAR members have contingent (excess) liability insurance of $1,000,000 per occurrence with an option for physical damage coverage.
3. These coverages provide protection and security to our IDAR dealers.

Who is the IDAR contingent insurer?

1. Our coverages are provided through one of the largest independent insurer of rental vehicles and equipment in the United States.
2. Coverages are underwritten by an “A” rated A.M. Best insurer.
